September 24, 2026 puts Dylan Faden at the center of a warped Manhattan
CONTROL Resonant locks September 24, 2026 after Remedy’s June date reveal (State of Play / company blog). Pre-orders are open for digital and physical editions on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. The Oldest House’s sibling story leaves the Bureau’s concrete for a city rewritten by resonance.
Confirmed: you play Dylan — Jesse is missing, not deleted from the plot
Co-creative director Mikael Kasurinen’s pitch flips the 2019 dynamic: Dylan, once the Hiss-warped face of the disaster, wakes into a Manhattan stalked by a new resonance threat while hunting for Jesse. Scrapers that still say “Jesse sequel 2026” are a year behind the trailer.

How Control moved from the Oldest House to Resonant
- 2019 — Control launches; Jesse Faden becomes Director.
- Expansions / Ultimate Edition keep the FBC universe warm.
- FBC: Firebreak — co-op side path in the same world.
- Dec 2025 The Game Awards — CONTROL Resonant announced for 2026.
- Feb–Jun 2026 — Gameplay / story trailers; September 24 lock.
- Sep 24, 2026 — Launch (this page).
The sequel hands the controller to the character players once fought as the enemy
Dylan’s first Control appearance was containment horror — Hiss-ridden, comatose after Jesse cleansed him. Resonant’s bet is that the “face of the enemy” can carry an expansive action-RPG chapter outside the Oldest House, with the Aberrant shapeshifting weapon and sibling destiny still tangled.
That casting flip is the September 24 story — not another anonymous Bureau DLC. Annapurna Pictures co-finances; Remedy develops and publishes on Northlight.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about this release date.
1When does Control Resonant launch?
September 24, 2026 worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), with GeForce NOW support. New Zealand stamps September 25. A Mac version via Steam / App Store follows later in 2026.
2Is this Control 2 — and do I play as Jesse again?
It is the sequel to 2019’s Control, titled CONTROL Resonant. Dylan Faden is the sole playable lead this time; Jesse is missing but still shapes the story. Do not expect a straight Jesse Director campaign replay.
3What about Digital Deluxe early access?
PlayStation 5 Digital Deluxe includes 48 hours of advance access ahead of the September 24 unlock. Confirm regional store pages for Xbox/PC edition names and whether early access matches that window.
4Is FBC: Firebreak the same game?
No. FBC: Firebreak is Remedy’s co-op shooter set in the Control universe. Resonant is the single-player narrative sequel. Keep those storefronts and countdowns separate.
