When does The Elder Scrolls VI launch? Bethesda has not locked a day; industry reporting still points to a late-2020s window (often 2028–2029) on Xbox and PC / Game Pass after post-Starfield production — not a dated SKU.

The Elder Scrolls VI has no official ship day. E3 2018 teaser; full production after Starfield. Insider windows cluster around 2028–2029. Separate from Skyrim remasters and Oblivion Remastered.

The Elder Scrolls VI still has no ship day — 2028 calendars are insider weather, not store pages

Bethesda Game Studios’ next mainline Elder Scrolls has been a silhouette since the E3 2018 teaser. Full production ramped after Starfield’s 2023 launch; by mid-2026 Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier and other Xbox beat reporters were still saying fans should think in “at least two to three more years,” which lands the honest window in 2028–2029 — not a carved November 10 you can set an alarm for.

Confirmed: VI is in production — not confirmed: any Friday, or that remaster news is VI news

Confirmed: the project exists, Bethesda staffing has concentrated on it after Starfield, and Microsoft treats Elder Scrolls as a priority IP. Not confirmed: province setting beyond rumor, Creation Engine branding on the box, or a Game Awards trailer date. Oblivion Remastered and Skyrim re-releases are separate SKUs — do not merge their street dates into this countdown.

The 2018 teaser already outlived most AAA marketing cycles — and still has no companion date

Most blockbuster reveals pair a logo with a year. Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls VI drop was deliberately early — Todd Howard later framed it as reassurance that a sequel existed after years of Skyrim DLC and Creation Club noise. That reassurance became a meme: a landscape shot with no provinces named and no Friday attached.

If VI lands in 2028, the gap from Skyrim will be about seventeen years — longer than the wait from Oblivion (2006) to Skyrim. That span is why fake “November 2028” widgets spread: people want a number more than Bethesda has given one.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this release date.

1When does The Elder Scrolls VI release?

No official day or even a locked year from Bethesda. Industry reporting after mid-2026 still clusters around a late-2020s window — often spoken as 2028 or 2029 — not a November SKU you can preload. Fake dated countdowns are aggregator fiction.

2Which platforms will it be on?

Xbox Series and PC / Game Pass are the safe assumption for a first-party Bethesda flagship. PlayStation availability has swung between FTC-era “Xbox and PC” documents and Phil Spencer’s later “case-by-case / too far out” answers — treat PS as undecided until Microsoft prints a platform card.

3Is this the same as Skyrim Anniversary or Oblivion Remastered?

No. Those are reissues / remasters of older numbered games. This page tracks the next mainline Elder Scrolls after Skyrim (2011) — the VI project teased in 2018 — not another Special Edition patch train.

4Why is there still no gameplay?

Bethesda and Xbox have held the title back from showcases while Starfield, Indiana Jones, and remaster pipelines ate the spotlight. Todd Howard’s public line has long been that they will show more when the game is nearer completion — silence is policy, not proof of cancellation.
