Playground Games’ Fable reboot finally has a retail Tuesday: February 23, 2027. That is later than the Fall 2026 window Xbox once floated — the slip parks the Hero away from the densest autumn 2026 traffic (including GTA 6’s November cluster) and into a clearer early-year lane.
Pre-orders already peddle a Chicken Suit and picnic-hamper gift pack; Premium / Collector buyers clock in February 18. Treat the official Fable FAQ as the source of truth over leftover “2025” or “2026 holiday” scrapers.
Confirmed: Albion reboot — not Fable IV, not Legends revived
Confirmed: new beginning in Albion, moral choices and reputation, Demon Doors returning, Hobbes / Balverines / Trolls on the enemy board, British cast talent. Not confirmed as a soft sequel: any requirement that you finished Fable III. Lionhead closed in 2016 after Legends died; this is Playground’s ground-up rebuild under Xbox Game Studios, not a mothballed co-op build dusted off.

Playground’s public identity is festival open worlds and ridiculous cars, not isometric morality comedies. That mismatch is the pitch: a team that already ships living sandboxes got a separate Fable crew so Horizon keeps rolling while Albion rebuilds with modern open-world plumbing.
Official FAQ even reassures car fans that Horizon “isn’t going anywhere.” The February 2027 date is therefore less a nostalgia remaster and more Microsoft’s bet that Horizon-scale world tech can carry chickens, Demon Doors, and landlord sim energy without needing Lionhead’s old codebase.
