September 8, 2026 brings Haddonfield online — a week before the calendar holiday, not on it

Halloween: The Game locks Tuesday, September 8, 2026 across PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. IllFonic’s pitch is a 1970s Haddonfield sandbox: become Michael Myers (Shape Jump and all) or play a Hero of Haddonfield who warns NPCs, grabs weapons, and steers neighbors toward police escape — knowing The Shape can be knocked down and detained, but not killed.

Shipping in early September is deliberate marketing math: get the Boogeyman into libraries before costume season peaks, instead of competing with October 31 noise. Pre-orders already split Standard (~$40) and Deluxe (~$60).

Confirmed: 1978 Carpenter sandbox — not “the next Blumhouse movie game”

IllFonic frames this as the first major Halloween video game built around the original “Night He Came Home” mythology with Malek Akkad’s lane of the franchise. It is not a tie-in timer for a 2026 theatrical reboot, and it is not IllFonic’s cancelled-era Friday the 13th servers under a new mask. Buy the product titled Halloween: The Game; ignore scrapers that merge every Myers timeline into one SKU.

Before you pre-order Deluxe for the Myers skin

  • Decide if you want solo story, asymmetric matches, or both — the package includes both.
  • Standard vs Deluxe: skins/Civilians vs saving $20 — check the live edition sheet.
  • Expect always-online friction on multiplayer nights; story is the offline-friendly pitch.
  • Do not confuse with older mobile / licensed Myers tie-ins or film release calendars.
  • September 8 ≠ October 31 — set the alarm for the game, not the holiday.

The hook is a living Haddonfield full of NPCs — not another 4v1 basement loop

Most asymmetric horror maps feel like abandoned theme parks. IllFonic’s public pitch keeps townsfolk cooking, walking, and ignoring the Boogeyman until a hero panics them toward police — so Myers is hunting a neighborhood that still thinks it is October 31, 1978.

That NPC sandbox is why September 8 matters beyond “another slasher multiplayer.” If the living town works, Halloween: The Game is a virtual playground for creating your own Carpenter set pieces; if it does not, it is just another lobby shooter in a mask. The date is locked either way.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this release date.

1When does Halloween: The Game launch?

September 8, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic). IllFonic locked the day during a September 2025 State of Play — intentionally before the calendar holiday, not on October 31.

2Is it only multiplayer?

No. It ships as an asymmetrical horror sandbox plus a standalone single-player story that plays key “Night He Came Home” beats through Michael Myers’s eyes. Multiplayer lets you stalk as The Shape or defend Haddonfield as a hero among living NPC townsfolk.

3Who is making it?

IllFonic develops and publishes with Gun Interactive as co-publisher, working with Halloween rights partners (including Malek Akkad / Compass International Pictures per IllFonic’s messaging). Same studio DNA as other licensed asymmetric horror — this SKU is the 1978 Carpenter lane, not a Blumhouse soft reboot film tie-in.

4What do editions cost?

Digital Standard has been listed around US$39.99; Deluxe around US$59.99 with an exclusive Myers skin, two exclusive Civilians, and extra surprises. Confirm current storefront pricing and regional tax before pre-order.
